What is a project?
For purposes of what we do, a project is a temporary, organized
effort to create an improvement to processes in an organization.
What is Project Management?
Project
management is the discipline of organizing and managing resources
in such a way that these resources deliver all the work required
to complete a project within defined scope, time, and cost
constraints. A project is a temporary and one-time endeavor
undertaken to create a unique product or service that brings about
beneficial change or added value. For BPI, project management
means to implement the improvement to your satisfaction.
Project Management activities
Project Management is composed of several different types of
activities such as:
| 1. |
Planning the work or objectives
As a result of the process mapping we document the improvements
that you want done. |
| 2. |
Analysis & Design of objectives
You need to know what the improvement will look like. That is
the outcome of this step. |
| 3. |
Assessing and controlling risk
You do not want any surprises. Neither do we. This step will
identify any potential risks and put steps in place to prevent
them. |
| 4. |
Estimating and allocating resources
You will want to know how the project will impact your
organization. We identify how long the project will take and what
resources are required before it starts. |
| 5. |
Organizing the work and assigning tasks
This is where we develop the project plan. It is your roadmap
for the project so you will know what is going to happen. |
| 6. |
Directing activities
Timelines are set for each task and you will know when to
expect deliverables. As the project manager, we stay on top of
these activities to ensure no slippage. |
| 7. |
Tracking and Reporting progress
We put reporting in place to ensure you are up to date on the
progress of the project. It is a great way to stay close to the
project and not take you away from your priorities. |
| 8. |
Issues Management and Resolution
Should any issues arise during the project, it may require
engaging others to resolve. These may impact the project but it is
better to resolve them than ignore them. |
| 9. |
Project Closure meeting
A project has a beginning and an end. In this step the project
as a whole as well as the objectives achieved are reviewed to
ensure that you are satisfied.
BPI involves you in all these steps to ensure you are up to date
so nothing is overlooked. We inspect a project along the way to
ensure you get what you expect. |
